The Art of Silence A Silent Meditation for 40 Days

In the yogic tradition, meditations practiced for a certain number of days have a certain effect. Forty days is the minimum to break a habit and set the stage for an internal shift. One student asked me once- Forty days in a row The whole class laughed. Yes, forty days in a row And if that seems like a long time, in the past many spiritual masters have taken 40 years to achieve enlightenment. I imagine that all of us on the KYList have done that path in other lifetimes. This lifetime, we are attempting to get quicker results, so that we can enjoy peace and happiness while still in the body. Let's get started. Here is a simple mindful meditation to practice for the next 40 days. Actually silent, mindful meditation is our first, last and on-going lesson. We will use this meditation as a touchstone overtime to review our progress and assess our goal of achieving inner peace, contentment and a richer, fuller life. You might also want to check out silent Buddhist evening and day...

Food Items Helpful In Meditation

Milk, fruits, almonds, sugar-candy, butter, green oats, Bengal oats (Chenai) soaked in water overnight, bread, etc., are all helpful in meditation. Thed, a kind of Kandamula found in abundance in Brahmapuri, Vasishtha Guha and other parts of the Himalayas, is very Sattvic. It helps meditation. My friend and spiritual brother Swami Purushottamanandaji used to live on that for some days when he was at Vasishtha Guha, fourteen miles from the reputed Rishikesh. Sunthi-Sevana (taking powder of dried ginger) is very good for aspirants. It can be taken along with milk. It refreshes the mind and helps digestion. Yogins take it very often. Triphala water also is taken by Yogins. It removes constipation, cools the system and stops wet-dreams. Myrobalan or Haritaki (Harad of the yellow kind) can be chewed by Yogic practitioners very often. It preserves semen and checks nocturnal discharges. Potatoes boiled without salt or roasted in fire are very good.

Meditation for Applied and Sustained Thinking

Being a great force, thought carries tremendous power. It becomes a matter of great moment to know how to use this power in the highest possible way and to the greatest possible effect. This can best be done by the practice of meditation. Meditation can arise when applied and sustained thinking, rapture, bliss and collectedness of mind arise.

Friends Op The Meditation Room

On February 16, 1953, a group known as the Friends of the Meditation Room, numhering 1500 members, presented through its officers a set of guest books to the U.N. wherein visitors to the room could inscribe their names, addresses, and religious affiliations. Three and one half to four million visitors have been estimated by the U.N. to have entered the room from October 11, 1952 to June 1963. Over 750,000 of these visitors have signed 108 of these books, each containing 7.000 names. The Movement has issued U.N. Meditation Room Identification Cards to 300 men and women who go periodically to this room for prayer. (See UN Room, by this group. I It once issued Prayer Cards to visitors containing Prayers from the World's Great Living Religions. namely, Hinduism, Buddhism. Judaism, Islamism, Sikhism, Christianity and St. Francis of Assisi( ). The Friends held Vigils of Prayer in the room in 1953 and 1954. Back in 1946 the Movement had sent Dr. Frank Laubach, Union Theological Seminary...

Sa Ta Na Ma Meditation for Evolutionary Change

KIRTIN KRIYA SA TA NA MA MEDITATION Kirtin Kriya, often referred to as SA TA NA MA meditation, is the most important meditation in Kundalini Yoga. It was one of the first meditations taught by Yogi Bhajan and remains today as a foundation meditation recommended for every student of Kundalini yoga. Yogi Bhajan says that if you can do only one meditation, this is it. It does everything for you in the order that you need. It is your teacher. And as you practice it, you will come to realize that it is your best friend. Whatever you need at the moment, it will readjust and align you to bring balance into your mind and thus your life. This meditation is given for everything from breaking habits to achieving emotional balance. I knew one woman who had been very emotionally upset for over two weeks. Finally she went to a quiet spot in the woods and did 31 minutes of Kirtin Kriya and voila, she felt relaxed and whole again. It helps you focus and center yourself. It is a catalyst for change...

Preparational Meditation

It is recommended that you swear a magical oath to practice the following meditation for 15 to 60 minutes a day for at least six months. At any convenient time during the day or night when you are alone, sit quietly and conduct the meditation described below or as given by Crowley in Liber HIIH Chapter SSS from which this was taken. It is most important not to miss a single day no matter what your daily schedule or health is like. It is also important to record each day's results in your Magical Diary. When your sworn time period is over, go through your diary and you will find that you had good results on some days and poor results (or no results at all) on some days. A plot of scaled results versus time will show your personal meditational cycle. The results themselves can vary from physical perspiration and muscle spasms to a measurable increase in body temperature (it is a good idea to measure and record your temperature before and after each meditation as a scientific check on...

Meditation to get out of Depression

The following meditation is on page 135 of my book Relax and Renew, which contains many meditations to relieve stress and depression. Yogi Bhajan taught it in 1979. This meditation totally recharges you and is an antidote to depression. It builds a new biochemical system, gives one capacity and caliber to deal with life, and establishes a direct relationship with the pranic body. I have found this to be a very quick and powerful way to change my emotional state. It seems particularly effective against depression and sadness, and just three minutes can completely alter my state of mind. Another nice thing about this meditation is that it is a quiet one, so I can easily duck into a bathroom stall and, in just a few minutes, raise my consciousness and prepare for something new or recover from something trying.

Indispensability Of Meditation For Godrealisation

Mind feels tired after hard and protracted work. It cannot therefore, be Atman. Atman is the store-house of all powers (Ananta-Sakti). Mind is only an instrument of Atman. It should be properly disciplined. Just as you develop the physical body through gymnastics and various kinds of physical exercises, you will have to train the mind through mental training, mental culture or mental drill. In meditation and concentration, you will have to train the mind in a variety of ways. Then only the gross mind will become subtle (Sukshma). Put a piece of iron rod in the blazing furnace. It becomes red like fire. Remove it. It loses its red colour. If you want to keep it always red, you must always keep it in fire. Even so, if you want to keep the mind charged with the fire of Brahmic wisdom, you must keep it always in contact or touch with the Brahmic fire of knowledge through constant and intense meditation. You must keep up an unceasing flow of the Brahmic consciousness. Then you will have...

Prerequisites For Meditation

For meditation, you want a properly trained instrument (mind). You must have a calm, clear, pure, subtle, sharp, steady and one-pointed Buddhi to understand the Brahma-Tattva or Brahma-Vastu. Then and then only is realisation possible. Brahman is pure and subtle and you need a pure and subtle mind to approach Brahman. Only a trained mind which utterly controls the body can inquire and meditate endlessly so long as life remains, never for a moment losing sight of the object of its search and contemplation (the Brahman), never for a moment letting it to be obscured by any terrestrial temptation. All physical activities should be completely suspended, all attachments should be ruthlessly cut asunder completely for five or six years, if you want to practise Dhyana Yoga, if you want to realise God through concentration of mind. Newspaper-reading and correspondence with friends and relatives should be completely stopped, as they cause distraction of mind and strengthen the world-idea....

Exercises In Saguna Meditation

Close your eyes. Meditate on the effulgence in the sun, splendour in the moon, glory in the stars, beauty in the sky. This is one kind of meditation for beginners. Meditate on the Himalayas. Imagine that the river Ganga takes its origin from the icy region of Gangotri, near Uttarkashi, flows through Rishikesh, Haridwar, Varanasi and enters the Gangasagar in the Bay of Bengal. Himalayas, Ganga and the sea these three thoughts only should occupy your mind. First, take your mind to icy Gangotri, then along the Ganga and finally to the sea. Then, again take it to the icy Gangotri. Rotate the mind in this manner for 15 minutes. This is another kind of meditation. Imagine that there is a fine garden with lovely flowers. In one corner, there are jasmine flowers. In another corner, there are beautiful cabbage roses. In the third corner there is the 'lady of the night.' In the fourth corner, there are Champaka flowers. Now, meditate on these four varieties...

Exercises In Nirguna Meditation

There is a living, universal Power that underlies all these names and forms. Meditate on this Power which is formless. This will form an elementary Nirguna meditation without any form (formless Dhyana). There is no world. There is neither body nor the mind. There is only one Chaitanya (pure consciousness). I am that pure consciousness. This is Nirguna meditation (without attributes). Sit on Padmasana. Open the eyes. Gaze steadily on the formless air only. This is also another method of formless meditation. Concentrate on the air. This will lead to the realisation of the nameless and formless Brahman, the One Living Truth. Imagine that there is a Parama, Ananta, Akhanda Jyotis (supreme, infinite effulgence) hidden behind all the phenomena with an effulgence that amounts to the blaze of crores of suns together. Meditate on That. That is also another form of Nirguna meditation. Concentrate and meditate on the expansive sky. This is also another kind of Nirguna, Nirakara meditation. By...

Meditation With Eyes Open

In the beginning, when you are a neophyte, you can close your eyes to remove the distraction of mind, as you are very weak. But, later on, you must meditate with eyes open, even during walking. You must keep your balance of mind even when you are in the bustle of a city. Then only you are perfect. Why do you close your eyes during meditation Open your eyes and meditate. Think strongly that the world is unreal, that there is no world, that there is Atman only. If you can meditate on Atman even when the eyes are open, you will be a strong man. You will not be easily disturbed.

How To Develop Virtues By Meditation

Pick some distinct defect in it. Find out its opposite. Let us say that you suffer from irritability. The opposite of irritability is patience. Try to develop this virtue by meditation on the abstract virtue of patience. Regularly, every morning, sit down at 4 a.m. in Padma or Siddha Asana in a solitary room for half an hour and begin to think on patience, its value, its practice under provocation, taking one point one day, another on another day and thinking as steadily as you can, recalling the mind when it wanders. Think of yourself as perfectly patient, a model of patience and end with a vow This patience which is my true self, I will feel and show from today.

Experiences And Obstacles In Meditation What Happens During Meditation

In meditation, new grooves are formed in the brain and the mind moves upwards in the new spiritual grooves. When the mind becomes steady in meditation, the eyeballs also become steady. A Yogi whose mind is calm will have a steady eye. There will be no winking at all. The eyes will be lustrous, red or pure white. When you enter into very deep, silent meditation, the breath will not come out of the nostrils. There may be occasional slow movement of the lungs and the abdomen. During normal exhalation the air comes out 16 digits. When the mind gets concentrated, it will become less and less. It will come to 15 then 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 and so on. From the nature of the breathing, you can infer the degree of concentration of an aspirant. Watch the breath very carefully. In Nididhyasana or profound and continued meditation, thinking ceases. There is only one idea of Aham Brahmasmi. When this idea also is given up, Nirvikalpa Samadhi or Sahaja Advaita-Nishtha ensues. Just as salt melts in...

More Kundalini Meditations For Physical Wisdom

This collection of meditations will further enhance the use of your physical wisdom. They are practical techniques that fight stress, enhance intuition, and increase basic life energy. Yogi Bhajan has shared literally hundreds of meditation techniques. These meditations directly expand your life, coping with challenge, and experiencing your physical wisdom. Meditation is the mindful direction of your awareness. It can be active, passive, ecstatic, serious, quiet, loud, in retreat, or during daily activities. Not all meditations do the same thing. It is like climbing a mountain. All paths lead to the top, but some paths develop leg strength (straight up the north wall), some develop aesthetic sense (the gradual path along the fields of flowers), and some enhance interpersonal skills (the path that crosses all the way stations and camps). All meditations will develop self-mastery and will engage aspects of the mind so you can live from your soul and awareness. Each meditation has its...

Experiences In Meditation

Various persons get various spiritual experiences. There cannot be a common experience for all. It depends upon the temperament, mode of Sadhana, place of concentration and various other factors. Some hear melodious sounds in the ears. Some see lights. Some get Ananda (spiritual bliss). Some get both Prakasa and Ananda. During meditation, you may experience that you are rising from your seat. Some experience that they fly in the air. During meditation, the colour of lights that you see varies according to the Tattva that flows through the nostrils. If there is Agni-Tattva, you will see red-coloured lights. If Akasa-Tattva flows, you will have blue-coloured lights. If Apas-Tattva (water) prevails, you will see white-coloured lights. If there is Prithvi-Tattva, you will have yellow lights. If there is Vayu-Tattva, you will see black colour. You can change the Tattva by various ways. But the best way is by thought. As you think, so you also become. When the Agni-Tattva flows, think...

Reasons For Failures In Meditation

Some practise meditation for a period of 15 years and yet they have not made any real progress at all. Why This is due to lack of earnestness, Vairagya, keen longing for liberation and intense, constant Sadhana. There is always a complaint amongst the aspirants, I am meditating for the last 12 years. I have not made any improvement. I have no realisation. Why is it so What is the reason They have not plunged themselves in deep meditation into the innermost recesses of their hearts. They have not properly assimilated and saturated the mind with the thoughts of God. They have not done regular, systematic Sadhana. They have not disciplined the Indriyas perfectly. They have not collected all the outgoing rays of the mind. They have not made the self-determination, I will realise this very second. They have not given the full 100 of the mind or 16 annas of the mind their full mind to God. They have not kept an increasing flow of Divine Consciousness like the flow of oil (Tailadharavat)....

Meditation to Switch Channels and for Emotional Balance

Yogi Bhajan says that it is good to do this meditation when one is worried or upset and doesn't know what to do, or when one feels like screaming, yelling or misbehaving. Before practicing this meditation, drink a glass of water. Water imbalance in the system, which creates pressure in the kidneys, can cause worry and upset. When out of focus or emotional, attention should be given to the body's water balance and breath rate. Humans are

Meditation for Gurprasad

Sit comfortable in meditation pose and cup the hands together at heart level, palms up, upper arms pressed against rib cage, eyes 1 10 open and allowed to close. Feel that you are asking for a blessing from God. Keep making your spine straighter -(a crooked spine will make one crooked, even in prayer). Note There is a slightly different version of the same meditation - time unlimited and the following comments Gurprasad means gift of the Guru . As you practice this meditation, feel yourself showered by all the blessings of heaven - health, wealth, happiness, your ultimate caliber and capacity. Just let it happen. Fill your heart and soul with all the bounties of nature. Simply meditate on the boundless flow of the Universal Soul, and feel a deep inflow of spirit. This is a very restful posture. The subtle pressure against the meridian points in the rib cage gives immediate relaxation.

Third Method Meditation on Illusion

If still going down and not liberated, Meditate as follows The sexual activities, the manipulation machinery, the mocking laughter, dashing sounds and terrifying apparitions, Indeed all phenomena Are in their nature, illusions. However they may appear, in truth they are unreal and fake. They are like dreams and apparitions, Non-permanent, non-fixed. What advantage is there in being attached to them, Or being afraid of them All these are hallucinations of the mind. The mind itself does not exist, Therefore why should they Only through taking these illusions for real will you wander around in this confused existence. All these are like dreams, Like echoes, Like cities of clouds, Like mirages, Like mirrored forms, Like phantasmagoria, The moon seen in water. Not real even for a moment. By holding one-pointedly to that train of thought. The belief that they are real is dissipated, And liberation is attained.

An Advanced Healing Meditation

Meditate on the balance and harmony that exists between the letters in your Magick Square of OLAP. STEP 2. Meditate on the balance and harmony that exist between the organs and other components of your physical body. STEP 3. Meditate on your physical body being a Magick Square, an expression in time, space and form of a spiritual idea. Know that this idea is your own Holy Guardian Angel. STEP 4. Meditate on the magical correspondence between the Magick Square of OLAP and the body. Magically transfer the harmony of OLAP to your body.

Four Methods Of Preventing Reentry First Method Meditation on the Buddha

O (name), tranquilly meditate upon your protective figure (name). He is like the reflecting of the moon in water. He is apparent yet non-existent. Like illusion produced by magic. If you have no special protective figure, Meditate upon the Buddha or upon me. With this in mind meditate tranquilly. Then causing the visualized form of your protective ideal To melt away from the extremities, Meditate, without any thought-forming, upon the Void Clear Light. This is a very profound art. By virtue of it rebirth is postponed. A more illuminated future is assured. Second Method Meditation on Good Games (Name), You are now wandering in the Third Bardo. As a sign of this, look into a mirror and you will not see your usual self (show the wanderer a mirror). At this time you must form a single, firm resolve in your mind. This is very important. It is like directing the course of a horse by the use of the reins. Whatever you desire will come to pass. Think not of evil actions which might turn the...

An Advanced VRELP meditation

Meditate on the meaning and correspondences of the Magick Square of VRELP. Consider its similarities with the Magick Squares of ARSOE and LAHA. STEP 2. Meditate on the Magick Square of VRELP itself. Consider the balance of its letters. Consider the four corners which include V (the Devil in Capricorn) and P (the creative STEP 3. Meditate on yourself as a solar expression. Consider the similarities between the light of the sun and the light of consciousness.

Obstacles To Meditation

Obstacles to meditation are really from within. Environments are from within you create your own environments. Try to be happy in whatever situation you are placed. Do not complain. Bear sufferings. You can conquer Nature. Maya is Tuchha (nothing) or Alpa (small or non-entity) for a Brahma-Jnani. The obstacles to meditation are only from within. Sleepiness, passions, confused state of the mind, Manorajya (building castles in the air) are the chief obstacles that stand in the way of fixing the mind on God or Brahman. The five hindrances to meditation, viz., sense-desire, ill-will, sloth-torpor, flurry-worry and perplexity should be removed. For, when these are not removed, meditation cannot arise. The mind that lusts after many things through sense-desire is not concentrated on one object or being overcome by sense-desire, it does not enter upon the progress of meditation in order to put away the sensuous element. The mind that is harassed by ill-will concerning an object does not...

Dhyana Or Meditation

While concentration is defined as the tethering of the mind to a point of attention, whether external, internal or universal, meditation is described as a flow which is continuous, as a movement from the meditating subject to the object of meditation. There are four factors involved in Dharana, or concentration, namely, the exclusion of extraneous thoughts which are irreconcilable with the thoughts of the object of concentration, the thought of one's own subjectivity as a concentrating principle, the process of concentration, and the object on which the concentration is practiced. But in Dhayana, or meditation, there are only three processes and the question of excluding extraneous thoughts does not arise here, since the thought in meditation has deepened itself to such an extent that it can have no awareness of anything outside the purview of the object of meditation.

The Training For Meditation Preliminary Remarks

HITHERTO we have spoken only of the mystic path and we have kept particularly to the practical exoteric side of it. Such difficulties as we have mentioned have been purely natural obstacles. For example, the great question of the surrender of the self, which bulks so largely in most mystical treatises, has not been referred to at all. We have said only what a man must do we have not considered at all what that doing may involve. The rebellion of the will against the terrible discipline of meditation has not been discussed one may now devote a few words to it. There is no limit to what theologians call wickedness. Only by experience can the student discover the ingenuity of the mind in trying to escape from control. He is perfectly safe so long as he sticks to meditation, doing no more and no less than that which we have prescribed but the mind will probably not let him remain in that simplicity. This fact is the root of all the legends about the Saint being tempted by the ' Devil....

Basic Meditation Structure

If you find something that helps you quiet and balance yourself, then do it and do it fairly regularly. As often as possible, do it outside. As you get more comfortable, sit under a tree and do your meditations. Or, focus your meditations on the qualities of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Use the above ritual structure, then sit in the sacred space and meditate.

Shabad Kriya Bedtime Meditation

SHABAD KRIYA- BEDTIME MEDITATION (*1) Yogi Bhajan has given us the following meditation to practice before going to bed. If practiced on a regular basis, once a week or even every night, your sleep will be deep and relaxed. The control of the rhythm of the breath strengthens the nervous system and regenerates the nerves. After a few months, the rhythm of your breath will be subconsciously regulated and eventually you will internally chant the mantra while you are sleeping. You may wake up to the internal chant of the mantra and hear it in your daily activities. You will think better, work better, share better and love better. There cannot be enough praise of the meditation's effect on the personality. It gives the mind the power to stretch to infinity, promotes radiance, patience and practical universality. (Relax & Renew p. 118) This is a good meditation to do to recover from fatigue caused by normal daily stress, travel and even jet lag. Continue for 11, 15, 22, 31 or even 62...

The United Nations Meditation Room

The Meditation Room is 30 feet long, 18 wide at the entrance (which faces north north-east), and 9 wide at the other end. It is therefore wedge-shaped. Its only entrance is through two tinted glass-paned doors outside of which stands a U.N. guard. Inside the room is another guard. Once through the doors, the visitor finds himself in a darkened corridor which leads to the left. The sharp transition from a world of light to one of extreme darkness forces a feeling of abrupt withdrawal from the outside world upon the senses of the visitor who walks along the corridor, reaches the inner arched entrance, turns right, and looks into the room.

Jnanamudra Meditation

It is recommended that you swear a magical oath to practice the following meditation (or one of your own like it) daily for a selected period of time. Be sure to record your daily results in your Magical Diary. This meditation is specifically for a male magician. A woman will need to make appropriate changes to convert the feminine current to a masculine one. This exercise should be practiced as a preparation for entering ZIP. Crossing the Abyss of ZAX will not of itself allow you to enter ZIP or ZID. NOTES TO STEP 7. The primary effect of a successful Jnanamudra meditation will be an intense bliss (Ananda) throughout your subtle body. Even the pphysicalbody will be affected. It should feel to you like an orgasm in every ppartof your body simultaneously.

Saguna And Nirguna Forms Of Meditation

When you see the concrete figure of Lord Krishna with open eyes and meditate, it is the concrete form of meditation. When you reflect on the image of Lord Krishna by closing your eyes, it is also concrete form of meditation, but it is more abstract. When you meditate on the infinite abstract light, it is still more abstract meditation. The former two types belong to Saguna form of meditation, the latter to Nirguna form. Even in Nirguna meditation, there is an abstract form in the beginning for fixing the mind. Later on, this form vanishes and the meditator and the meditated become one. Meditation proceeds from the mind only. The help of the mind is always needed either for perception of an object or for the understanding of Brahman. When you read a book with absorbing interest and attention, your mind gets fixed to the ideas. Even so, in Nirguna meditation of Brahman (formless Dhyana), the mind is fixed on one idea, viz., that of Atman.

De Quodam Modo Meditationis

Hath not Time wherein to conceive, much less to utter any Word for a Name of any one of them. Also, such was the Multi plicity of these Ladders, and their Equivalence, that the Memory holdeth no more any one of them, but only a certain Comprehension of the Method, wordless by Reason of its Subtility. Now, therefore,- must I make by my Will a Concentration mighty and terrible of my Thought, that I may bring forth this Mystery in Expression. For this Method is of Virtue and Profit by it mayst thou come easily and with Delight to the Perfection of Truth, it is no Odds from what Thought thou makest the first Leap in thy Meditation, so that thou mayst know how every Road endeth in Monsalvat and the Temple of the Sangraal.

Whats the difference between meditation and OBE

In some forms of meditation, the goal is to clear your mind of all thoughts, which is very similar to quiescing your mind for an OBE. Some people report accidentally leaving their body during meditation. Others go into a state of meditation when trying to induce an OBE, but never leave their body. When I meditate, my mind becomes empty, and I go into a kind of trance that I can't explain. In this trance of meditation, I don't have any perception. I don't have dreams or hypnogogic images. It is as if the world has completely stopped, and my consciousness has been extinguished. When I come back from meditation, I have no memories.

Mass Meditation

Many people tend to believe that humanity can improve its situation when it wishes to do so. One such example is mass meditations, often practiced throughout the world in order to raise our quality of life. Undoubtedly, connecting people in a single thought influences reality. The power of thought is indeed tremendous. However, we must understand that simply thinking about it will not induce any beneficial influence upon reality, much as we may want it. Actions such as mass meditation do not promote humanity to the Creator, meaning to the altruistic nature. They are predicated on our being able to maximize the use of our egoistic forces hence, no single plan of humanity will help to improve our world. These actions will eventually lead to quicker disclosure of the evil

What Is Meditation

In Vedanta or the path of Jnana, the terms Manana (reflection) and Nididhyasana are very frequently used. Manana-Vritti-Tiraskara is driving away all the thoughts of worldly objects and Svajatiya-Vritti-Pravaha is increasing the thought-currents of God or Brahman like a steady stream. Nididhyasana is meditation of Atman. It is deep and intense contemplation. It is Anatma-Vritti-Vivadana-Rahita Atmakara-Vritti-Sthiti. The mind is perfectly established in the Absolute. No worldly thoughts will intrude now. The contemplation is like a steady flow of oil (Tailadharavat).

Meditation may be said to have been already explained, for it is only sustained attitude of the concentrated mind in face of an object of devotion, of a problem that needs illumination to be intelligible, of anything whereof the life is to be realized and absorbed, rather than the form. Meditation cannot be effectively performed until concentration is, at least partially, mastered. For concentration is not an end, but a means to an end it fashions the mind into an instrument which can be used at the will of the owner. When a concentrated mind is steadily directed to any object, with a view of piercing the veil, and reaching the life, and drawing that life into union with the life to which the life belongs - then meditation is performed. Concentration might be regarded as the shaping of the organ, meditation as its exercise. The mind has been made one-pointed it is then directed to and dwells steadily on any object of which knowledge is desired. Anyone who determines to lead a...

The Meditation Room

The meditation room should be regarded as a temple of God. Talks of profane nature should never be indulged in the room. No vicious thoughts of rancorous jealousy, avarice are to be entertained there. Admittance should ever be sought in it with a pious and reverent mind. For, what we do, what we think and what we speak of leave their impressions on the ether of the room and, if no care is taken to avoid them, they will exert their influence on the aspirant's mind and, rendering his mind perverse and restive, make him incapable of attending to the devotion. The words uttered, the thoughts cherished, the deeds done are not lost they are always reflected on the subtle layers of ether encircling the room where they are done and affect the mind invariably. As much as possible effort should be made to overcome them. This is to be done for a few months only when the habit is changed, everything will be all right.

How To Meditate

You must have a mental image of God or Brahman (concrete or abstract) before you begin to meditate. When you are a neophyte in meditation, start repeating some sublime Slokas or Stotras (hymns) for ten minutes as soon as you sit for meditation. This will elevate the mind. The mind can be easily withdrawn from the worldly objects. Then stop this kind of thinking also and fix the mind on one idea only by repeated and strenuous efforts. Then Nishtha will ensue. In Nididhyasana (meditation), you will have to develop the Svajatiya-Vritti-Pravaha. Make the thoughts of Brahman or Divine Presence flow like inundation or flood. Do Vijatiya-Vritti-Tiraskara. Renounce the thoughts of objects. Drive them away with the whip of Viveka and Vichara. There is struggle in the beginning. It is trying indeed. But, later on, as you will grow stronger and stronger and as you grow in purity, Brahma-Chintana becomes easy. You rejoice in the life of unity. You get strength from Atman. Inner strength grows...

Meditation And Work

He who meditates is not able to work. He who works is not able to meditate. This is not balance. This is not equanimity. The two principles, meditation and action, must be well-balanced. You must be able, if you are ready to follow the divine injunction, to take up whatever work you are given even a stupendous work and leave it the next day, with the same quietness with which you took it up and without feeling that the responsibility is yours. You must be able to work hard in the world with tremendous force and, when the work is over, you must be able to shut yourself up in a cave as an absolute recluse for a long time with great peace of mind. That is balance, that is real strength. Then only you have gone beyond the qualities (Gunatita). He, O Pandava, who hateth not radiance (Sattva) nor outgoing energy (work), nor even sloth and slumber (Moha) when present, nor longeth after them when absent he is said to have crossed over the qualities (Gita, XIV-22). Chakra Meditation

There is a special type of concentrative meditation which we will call 'Chakra meditation'. This is basicly Kundalini yoga -- the practice of causing psychic energy (kundalini) to flow up sushumna, energizing the various chakras along the way. The practice, considered dangerous by some, will produce deffinite physiological sensations and psychological effects if continued long enough. It should not be attempted by epileptics or persons with an unstable mental or physical condition, or with heart disease. Certain drugs and medications, such as those used to treat epilepsy may retard progress. Although the technique is very simple, it may eventually produce powerful results. Results may at first appear hours after the practice during sleep. As each chakra is energized by this practice, it is said to add occult powers (sidhis), until at last the crown chakra is reached, and with it, full enlightenment is attained. Sometimes kundalini awakens all by itself. To practice this chakra...

Brainwave Meditation

We practice Kundalini yoga and meditation to change our brainwaves so that we can be mentally and emotionally balanced. The meditation below specifically changes our brainwaves. With consistent practice, you will notice that we do not unconsciously react, things in life do not bother you so much and you will feel more stable and neutral in your life situations. Sit in easy pose or posture with a straight spine. Bring arms comfortably to the sides of the body with the elbows bent. Hands in fists with the thumb over the last three fingers, facing forward. Forefinger or Jupiter finger up straight. Hold the Jupiter finger very straight, tight and stable, without tensing the rest of the arms and body. The forearms should be perpendicular to the ground. During the meditation check the position and move the elbows forward as needed to maintain the position. Relax on your back or meditate afterwards. Do not jump up immediately. BENEFITS This meditation will bring your brainwaves to the...

The Secret Of The Room

The mural was described as having been designed to give a feeling of space by the opening up of the wall. All right, let us be literal about this and open up the wail behind the mural. The Meditation Room is constructed in the shape of a wedge. If the reader in his mind's eye looks at the room from above, in terms of its shape as a plane figure he will see at once that it is a triangle (pyramid) with the apex (capstone) cut off. (See Part II of this study.) If the two converging lines of the sides of the triangle are extended past the sides of the mural into the empty space beyond the wall, they meet to form the apex of the triangle (capstone of the pyramid). And what have we learned is the overall meaning of the mural It is that it represents the Tetragrammaton which is symbolized by the Eye in the Triangle. Thus we see that the Meditation Room symbolically represents a full triangle (pyramid) with an invisible apex (capstone) which contains the ALL-SEEING EYE of the mural.

The Great Seal On The Dollar Bill

The strange and fascinating history of the Great Seal of the United States has been included in this study because, One, the symbolism of the Meditation Room mural centers around the All-Seeing Eye which also appears above the pyramid on the reverse side of the Great Seal Two, both sides of the Seal are prominent features of the mosaic window in the Prayer Room in the United States Capitol Three, the All-Seeing Eye is symbolized in the Temple of Understanding and Four, both sides of the Seal appear on the one dollar bill because of the same occult influence as was involved in the establishment of the Meditation Room, Prayer Room and the Temple of Understanding.

The Sun And The Serpent

Ophiolatry is the worship of serpents. The religion of ancient Egypt was closely interwoven with the worship of sun and serpent. The deity, Kneph, was pictured as a serpent in a fiery circle. ''He was regarded as the first emanation of the Supreme Being, the good genius of the world, the demiurgus, the efficient Reason of all things, and the Architect of the Universe. Kneph is identified with the sun, hence the rays of glory around his head. Both serpent and sun were emblems of the Celestial Father As the solar deity, Kneph became the Cristos of the Gnostics. . . . was regarded as the spiritual sun of enlightenment, or wisdom. 61

The Prayer Room In The United States Capitol

The lighting in this meditation room is subdued. A concealed ceiling light focuses on he white oak altar, as in the U.N.'s room. There are ten chairs facing the altar, as in the U.N.'s room. When illumined by the indirect lights of the shielded wall brackets, the room is a soft color symphony of blue and gold.

The World Goodwill Bulletin issued a special edition on the United Nations in July, 1957, which contained an article entitled Lodestone. We quote from its description of the Meditation Room The visitor will be totally unprepared for what he will see as he steps in the door for a moment of quiet. . . . Because of the converging walls and the dim light, he will experience a peculiar spatial disorientation, and dimension and perspective will seem difficult to establish. In the center of the room, he will see, illuminated by a single point of light from the ceiling, a rectangular mass. . . . It is interesting to speculate on what the long-term influence of this 'new departure' will be on current religious thinking. Ensconced here in the highest Hall Of Man, it cannot be inconsiderable. Whatever interpretations one may attribute to the United Nations Meditation Room, it can be said with certainty that the words and the repercussions have only just begun. The ultramundane symbolism and atmosphere of the Meditation Room of the United Nations may bemuse the unwary and the lukewarm in faith their delusion need not be shared by Christians or members of other faiths who do not accept ancient paganism clothed in modern dress. Pagan had at one time an antonym milites Christi or enrolled soldiers of Christ men and women who fought paganism with every iota of strength and faith and knowledge at their command. Milites Christi are needed now to combat the influence and supporters of this Temple of Abomination, with its crude, occult-evoking simulacra of Deity. St. Paul said (Acts 17, verse 29) If therefore we are the offspring of God, we ought not to imagine that the Divinity is like to gold or silver or stone, to an image graven by human art and thought. But Hammarskjold likened the light over the altar to the Sun's illumination and the altar to the God whom man worships under many names and in many forms. Beelzebub or Buddha, Confucius or...

The Cornerstone

Dag Hammarakjold called the altar a reminder of that cornerstone on which all human endeavor must be based. The Meditation Room faces north north-east. To enter the room one must proceed from darkness to light. With these facts in mind note the cabalistic symbolism of the following description of the cornerstone by an authority 9 In its situation it lies between the north, the place of darkness, and the east, the place of light and hence this position symbolizes . progress from darkness to light, and from ignorance to knowledge. The permanence and durability of the corner-stone is intended to remind us that long after our death we have within ourselves a sure foundation of eternal life a corner-stone of immortality an emanation which pervades all nature, and which, therefore, must survive the tomb. (Emphasis supplied) One need go no further than the inner entrance of the Meditation Room to see concrete evidence of the Godlessness of the U.N. The stone, the metal altar, in its stark...

The Mural

In the New Yorker story cited earlier (see sources), Beskow was quoted as saying My fresco contained no intentional symbols, though I've heard people say that the black-and-pale-blue circle in the upper middle section of the panel stands for the cosmos. All that I seriously sought to do was to open up the wall, in order to let the eye travel farther, and to open up the mind, provoking meditation but not directing it. (All emphasis supplied.) The leaflet made available to those who visit the Meditation Room was written under the direction of Dag Hammarskjold. Its description of the room is deliberately couched in abstruse language. It contains terms which have meaning to the esoterically inclined but not to the uninitiated. These terms will be explained in later sections of this study. The leaflet reads We all have within us a center of stillness surrounded by silence. . . . People of many faiths will meet here, and for that reason none of the symbols to which we are accustomed in our...

Liber B vel Magi sub Figura I

Let the Magus then contemplate each in turn, raising it to the ultimate power of Infinity. Wherein Sorrow is Joy, and Change is Stability, and Selflessness is Self. For the interplay of the parts hath no action upon the whole. And this contemflation shall be performed not by simple meditation --- how much less then by reason --- but by the method which shall have been given unto Him in His initiation to the Grade. 17. Following which method, it shall be easy for Him to combine that rinity from its elements, and further to combine Sat-Chit-Ananda, and Light, Love, Life, three by three into nine that are one, in which meditation success shall be That which was first adumbrated to Him in the grade of Practicus (which reflecteth Mercury into the lowest world) in Liber XXVII, Here is Nothing under its three forms.

How The Mind Originated

It is through mind that Brahman manifests Himself as the differentiated universe with heterogeneous objects. Brahma thought, There, indeed, are the worlds I shall create the protectors of the worlds. He gathered the Purusha (Hiranyagarbha) from out of the waters only and fashioned him. He heated him by the heat of meditation. When he was thus heated, his heart burst out. From the heart, the mind came from the mind the moon, the

Beginning and Advanced Mantras

Beginners often ask if a mantra is appropriate for them or if it is an advanced mantra. We don't teach KY in terms of beginning mantras and advanced mantras. It is more the case that you choose the mantra, meditation and KY kriya that fits your need at a certain time and space. You practice it for 40, 90, 180 or 1000 days - until you feel you have achieved the results you desire. In other words, you begin your practice and over time you achieve greater levels of self-mastery, expand your awareness, connect with deeper levels of who you and establish your relationship with universal forces. Practice or Sadhana is an on-going, evolutionary process with no fixed end goal. Of course, we are all going for eventual enlightenment, but there are even different levels of enlightenment before liberation.

The Gradational Ascent Of The Mind

Purity of mind leads to perfection in Yoga. Regulate your conduct when you deal with others. Have no feeling of jealousy towards others. Be compassionate. Do not hate sinners. Be kind to all. Success in Yoga will be rapid if you put your maximum energy in your Yogic practice. You must have a keen longing for liberation and intense Vairagya also. You must be sincere and earnest. Intense and constant meditation is necessary for entering into Samadhi. When the mind gets highly purified, when meditation and devotion become intense and profound the mind rises to Visuddha Chakra or the centre in the throat, and experiences more and more powers and bliss. Even when the mind has reached this centre, there is a possibility for it to come down to the lower centres.

Children Animals and OBE

I usually develop fairly clear real-time sight and hearing during trance-meditation sessions especially in the evenings. At these times I will often see and hear my own children while they are projecting. There is nothing vague or imaginary about these observations. They usually cut and dive about the room calling for me to watch their antics as children do. They do not understand the reasons underlying their temporarily enhanced state of being, but are hugely excited by it all the same. Like most adults, children generally remember little of their OBEs after-ward. But I must say children take their newfound abilities, like flying and passing through walls, in their stride, as if these were all perfectly natural for them.

From the Bhagavad Gita

In the calm of self-surrender you can free yourself from the bondage of virtue and vice during this very life. Devote yourself, therefore, to reaching union with Brahman. To unite the heart with Brahman and then to act that is the secret of unattached work. In the calm of self-surrender, the seers renounce the fruits of their actions, and so reach enlightenment. Then they are free from the bondage of rebirth, and pass to that state which is beyond all evil. How can it meditate Without meditation, where is peace This is the state of enlightenment in Brahman A man does not fall back from it Into delusion. Even at the moment of death He is alive in that enlightenment Brahman and he are one.

Usually the PRIEST of the service asks if anyone wishes to enter the Second Order after having consecrated the Waters (Return to the Order of Worship, usually at the Meditation, which may be just watching the staggering initiate )

The Four Noble Truths

These two extremes, monks, are not to be practiced by one who has gone forth from the world. What are the two That conjoined with the passions and luxury, low, vulgar, common, ignoble, and useless and that conjoined with self-torture, painful, ignoble, and useless. Avoiding these two extremes the Tathagata has gained the enlightenment of the Middle Path, which produces insight and knowledge, and tends to calm, to the higher knowledge, enlightenment, Nirvana. And what, monks, is the Middle Path, of which the Tathagata has gained enlightenment, which produces insight and knowledge, and tends to calm, to higher knowledge, enlightenment, Nirvana This is the Eightfold Way namely, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration. This, monks, is the Middle Path, of which Tathagata has gained enlightenment, which produces insight and knowledge, and tends to calm, to higher knowledge, enlightenment, Nirvana.

The Primary Magical Operations

A third operation is called skrying. This consists of using a shewstone or other appropriate device to focus your consciousness on the subtle planes while retaining awareness of, and control over, your physical body. Skrying is a form of meditation. While the mind roams the Watchtowers and Aethyrs, the body can speak of the visions and voices that are encountered by the mind.

The Sword

Meditation will reveal many mysteries which are concealed in this symbol. And every one who meditates, even for an hour, will soon discover how this gusty aimless wind makes his flame flicker. The wind bloweth where it listeth. The normal man is less than a straw. Hence every idea must be analysed by the Sword. Hence, too, there must only be a single thought in the mind of the person meditating. The strict way of doing this by meditation is Mahasatipatthana,

Conquer The Mind To Control The Body

With the majority of mankind, the mind is greatly under the control of the body. Their minds being very little developed, they live on Annamaya Kosha mostly. Develop the Vijnanamaya Kosha and, through Vijnanamaya Kosha (Buddhi), control the Manomaya Kosha (mind). The Vijnanamaya kosha is developed by abstract thinking and reasoning, by systematic meditation, Brahma-Chintana, study of the Upanishads, Yogavasishtha and Brahma Sutras.

Experiences On Awakening Of Kundalini

During meditation you behold divine visions, experience divine smell, divine taste, divine touch, hear divine Anahata sounds. You receive instructions from God. These indicate that the Kundalini Shakti has been awakened. When there is throbbing in Muladhara, when hairs stand on their roots, when Uddiyana, Jalandhara and Mulabandha come involuntarily, know that Kundalini has awakened. When, in your meditation, the eyes become fixed on Trikuti, the middle of the eyebrows, when the Shambhavi Mudra operates, know that Kundalini has become active. When you feel vibrations of Prana in different parts inside your body, when you experience jerks like the shocks of electricity, know that Kundalini has become active. During meditation when you feel as if there is no body, when your eyelids become closed and do not open in spite of your exertion, when electric-like currents flow up and down the nerves, know that Kundalini has awakened. When you meditate, when you get inspiration and insight,...

Preface To The American Edition

Their philosophical thinking without impairing the pure dignity of that exalted scheme by mingling it in the first instance with sensational displays of thaumaturgic skill. I am not inclined myself to quarrel with the order in which events were actually unfolded, Miracles, it is quite true, are illogical guarantees for theological dogma but the manifest possession of great faculties and powers in other planes of Nature than those on which ordinary conclusions concerning her processes are formed, does certainly afford a presumption that persons so endowed may gather observations on those higher planes which it is well worth our while to correlate with our own. Meanwhile I do not put forward the narrative of occult phenomena, of which this volume largely consists, as a statement which in itself constitutes a foundation for the very stupendous edifice of doctrines which later opportunities enabled me to construct. But I know that the experiences I record in this book were neither futile...

Benefits Of Pranayama

By Pranayama (control of Prana or restraint of breath), you can also increase the mental energy and develop thought-control and thought-culture. This will help concentration and meditation. This will make the mind steady. This will remove Rajas (passion) and Tamas (inertia). This will burn the dross in the mind.

Quality Of Mind Depends Upon Quality Of Food

Food plays an important role in meditation. For purposes of meditation, the food must be light, Sattvic and nutritious. The body is Annamaya (made up of food). Bhairavi Chakra is in Annamaya Kosha. Bhairavi Chakra is Maya. Light Sattvic food, such as fruits, milk, etc., takes you to Vishnu Chakra and thence to Nirvikalpa state quite easily.

Baseline and Ongoing Process

Although silent meditation may seem simple, its mastery is not. Students take years and even lifetimes to perfect it. Fortunately, there are Kundalini yoga techniques that facilitate the process and speed up our progress. The purpose of this Kundalini Yoga Training Course is to share this technology. Our first step is to simply practice mindful silent meditation and watch our results. It is important to monitor your experiences so you have a baseline of comparison as we add the Kundalini exercises to the process. For you eager ones, practice silent meditation at least one day before moving on to tuning in and the other lessons.

Pranayama And Its Parallel In Speech Mantrayoga

The ultimate idea of meditation being to still the mind, it may be considered a useful preliminary to still consciousness of all the functions of the body. This has been dealt with in the chapter on Asana. One may, however, mention that some Yogis carry it to the point of trying to stop the beating of the heart. Whether this be desirable or no it would be useless to the beginner, so he will endeavour to make the breathing very slow and very regular. The rules for this practice are given in Liber CCVI. Any sentence may be used as a mantra, and possibly the Hindus are correct in thinking that there is a particular sentence best suited to any particular man. Some men might find the liquid mantras of the Quran slide too easily, so that it would be possible to continue another train of thought without disturbing the mantra one is supposed while saying 19 the mantra to meditate upon its meaning. This suggests that the student might construct for himself a mantra which should represent the...

Ways to Break Paralysis

Learning and practicing conscious-exit projection reduces the frequency of paralysis episodes. Projection attempts encourage the energetic development of the projection mechanism within the etheric body. If projection is unacceptable due to fear of OBE, short daytime projection attempts are advised. Energetic development work, like meditation and energy work, as well as developing other core skills, will also help resolve projection-related energetic and mind-split conflicts, which are the underlying causes of waking paralysis. Many people advocate giving into waking paralysis and attempting to convert it into an OBE. I would advise doing this only if vibrations or other projection symptoms are present otherwise it seems a pointless exercise. If paralysis is frequent, this would definitely be worth a shot at least once. If the conversion continually fails, and no reliable way is found to stop paralysis episodes, a progressive course of energetic development and meditation becomes the...

Theory of Quabbalistic Mysticism

Should a student want to apply Kerning's mysticism of letters practically, in a hermetic way, he would first have to be in perfect physical, psychological and mental equilibrium, and would have to have his will, his intellect and his feelings trained and strengthened by long and deep concentration exercises so that he fully masters the three elements, fire, air and water, in order to be able to operate consciously without any danger. He who has balanced out the three elements in his body, soul and spirit, and has attained a certain grade of personal stability will not be content with such an inadequate system. Equipped with these virtues, he is already on the way to perfection so that he would find the way of legality by his intuition.

Origins of the Lodges

The Lodges had thoroughly infiltrated the Christian Church and the Roman Empire by the year 363, when the death of Emperor Julian the Apostate dealt the final blow to paganism. The majority of the population settled for promises of enlightenment and paradise after death, and the mystical elements of Christianity were suppressed. Direct communication with angels or the spirits of dead saints was left in the hands of the Church, isolating the people from contact with spirits. The few Initiates who displayed their powers openly were labeled saints (when they were good Lodge members) or sorcerers when they did not, and each was treated accordingly.

History of the Lodges Continued

It wasn't until the Renaissance and the Enlightenment (words that were coined by the Lodges to refer to their own achievements, and which were later used to define whole historical periods) that the Lodges managed to reorganize themselves and achieve a semblance of their previous level of control. Initiates became very influential among the nascent middle class. Among them were the masons, stonecutters and builders responsible for the huge cathedrals and buildings of the late Middle Ages. The builder guilds that came under the control of the Lodges tended to have fewer accidents and mishaps than the ones that didn't. To appease the spirits and the magicians who controlled them, the masons started conducting secret rituals, going so far as to use many occult symbols among the decorations of the churches and cathedrals they built. Eventually, Initiates from these guilds founded a number of occult fraternal societies that would become the core of the Enlightened Lodges.

Thoughts Electricity and Philosophy

The world's most extraordinary book of practical philosophical idealism of India is Yoga-Vasishtha. The gist of this work is this The non-dual Brahman or the immortal soul alone exists. This universe as universe is not. Knowledge of the Self alone will free one from this round of births and deaths. Extinction of thoughts and Vasanas is Moksha. Expansion of mind alone is Sankalpa. Sankalpa or thought, through its power of differentiation generates this universe. This world is a play of the mind. This world does not exist in the three periods of time. Extinction of Sankalpas is Moksha. Annihilate this little 'I', Vasanas, Sankalpas, thoughts. Meditate on the Self and become a Jivanmukta.

The Symbolism of the Third Tarot Card

Thus not only man (i.e., the microcosm), but also the whole macrocosm is graphically represented by this picture. Furthermore, all keys are drawn in it, the fourfold key being especially dominant, since it is the key to the realization, the materialization of things. Everything that the quabbalah teaches us, i.e., its whole system, all analogies, follows clearly from this picture and its clear symbolism. The meditating quabbalist will therefore deduce all analogies from the Third Tarot Card.

Necessity For A Yogic Guru

In olden days the aspirants were required to live with the Guru for a number of years, so that the Guru could study the students thoroughly. The food during practice, what to practise and how, whether the students are qualified for the path of Yoga, and the temperament of the aspirants and other important items have to be considered and judged by the Guru. It is the Guru that should decide whether the aspirants are of Uttamai, Madhyama or Adhama type and fix different kinds of exercises. Sadhana differs according to the nature, capacity and qualifications of the aspirants. After understanding the theory of Yoga, you will have to learn the practice from an experienced Yogic Guru. So long as there is the world, there are books on Yoga and teachers also. You will have to search for them with Sraddha, faith, devotion and earnestness. You can get easy lessons from the Guru and practise them at home also in the initial stages of practice. When you advance a bit, for advanced and difficult...

Illustrations Of The Power Of Mind

Whenever any fire-accident or any other kind of accident occurs, how agile and nimble you are Do you not exhibit wonderful powers You jump over a huge wall, save many children, run amidst fire boldly and carry things. All psychic faculties, memory, imagination, will, etc., are at play. Chivalry, intrepidity, undaunted spirit, mercy and various other noble virtues are exhibited by you. Wherefrom did you draw these faculties and powers From this, you can conclude that you are, in reality, all-powerful. There is a big, magnanimous magazine of power inside. Go to the source by meditation and tap it. You will get everything. Rely on the Self within.

Matos Spells And Magic Create Earthquake

A Nephilim might be dissolved before its enlightenment. The causes can be accidental, such as a Nephilim whose dominant field is fire being thrown into a pure field of water (for water is opposed to fire). But its dissociation could also be precipitated by other Nephilim who seek its annihilation, through the use of spells.

Principles of Chaos Magick

One of the keys to magical ability is the ability to enter Altered States of Consciousness at will. We tend to draw a distinct line between 'ordinary consciousness' and 'altered states', where in fact we move between different states of consciousness - such as daydreams, 'autopilot' (where we carry out actions without cognition) and varying degrees of attention, all the time. However, as far as magick is concerned, the willed entry into intense altered states can be divided into two poles of 'Physiological Gnosis' - Inhibitory states, and Excitatory states. The former includes physically 'passive' techniques such as meditation, yoga, scrying, contemplation and sensory deprivation while the latter includes chanting, drumming, dance, emotional and sexual arousal.

The objective of an invocation is for you to identify yourselftemporarilywith the deity. The only magical instrument truely needed for an invocation (or evocation) is the wand (this is explained in Enochian Magic). However, a cup can be used for invocation (to unite) and a sword for evocation (to keep separate). In order to successfully invoke an Enochian deity, a degree of Samadhi (an advanced stage of transcendental meditation) is required. An outline of the primary stages is given below.

SPEECH OF NEPHTHYS (Nephthys, the lady of the house ) 1 accompany the Adept, my divine brother, Osiris. 1 have come here to protect you. You must be an Adept to overcome the forces of the Two Lands. Meditation will assist you. Indeed, truth-speaking will also help. You can be raised up by trae words and deeds and then the god Ptah will castdown your enemies.

Happiness Is Being Happy

There is no great secret to changing behavior or habits. It is largely a matter of determination. It requires that you ignore the 'pull' of the model when you strive for changes within yourself. The model is, after all, a collection of 'habits', some of which must be unlearned for permananent change to occur. There are two ways to do this direct, through will power and awareness alone -- observing and acting out in an unattached or indifferent manner and indirect -- through conditioning such as affirmation (explained later), self-hypnosis, and magick. Meditation may help too, by relaxing tension and conflict.

The Place For Yoga Sadhana

The following places are best suited. They are admirably adapted. Scenery is charming and spiritual vibrations are marvellous and elevating. There are several Kutirs (huts) to live in for real Abhyasis, or you can construct your own hut. Milk and other rations are available in all the places from the neighbouring villages. Any solitary village on the banks of Ganga, Narmada, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri is suitable. I will tell you some important places for meditation.

Destruction Of Vrittis Leads To Mental Strength

Silence is Atman. Silence is Brahman. Silence is centre. Silence is the Hridaya-Guha (heart-cave). When the mind runs from one object to another, that state in the interval wherein you become mindless for a very short time is Svarupasthiti. That is Brahman. When the mind is controlled fully, Vrittis cease. When all the modifications subside, you enter into the silence then and then alone. Realise this, this very moment. Feel the divine glory and Brahmic splendour now by closing the eyes, by drawing the Indriyas, by stilling the mind, by silencing the thoughts, by sharpening the intellect, by purifying the Chitta, by meditating on Om, by chanting Om with Bhava (feeling). Keep up the continuity of Brahmic consciousness throughout the 24 hours. Have an unceasing flow of Atmic consciousness. This is very, very important. This is a sine qua non. This is a great desideratum.

The results showed significantly better relaxation responses for the elaxation states (relaxation, relaxation- hypnosis, meditation) than for the lert state. There were no significant differences between the relaxation states xcept for the measure muscle activity in which meditation was ignificantly better than the other relaxation states. Summary of Exercises of Step I

The time limit for the completion of these exercises is fixed from a fortnight up to one month and is meant for people of average aptitudes. Those who have already practiced concentration and meditation should get along in this space of time. Those who are not yet experienced will have to extend their training period success depends chiefly on the individuality of the pupil. For the practice, it would be useless for him to pass from one step to the next without having completed the foregoing one in such a way that he is well up in it.

Sayings of Good Grief the Psychologists

In the traditional psychologies, one group may find that a certain technique works well in a given situation. Its members may tend to apply it in situations where it is inappropriate, or with people for whom it is inappropriate. Because the technique works for them, they come to believe that it ought to work for everyone at all times. The technique becomes the end, and may become an obsession. Those who are involved in using such a technique, be it a particular meditation technique or a certain breathing exercise, can become fixated and restricted to what the technique has to offer. The adherents may set up schools to teach the sacred ritual, forgetting that any technique has its relevance only for a certain community at a certain time. Just as can happen with any scientific technique which is overextended or which persists for too long, the original application and intent of the esoteric technique may become lost, although the surface appearance of the enterprise is well-maintained....

Sat Nam the Seed of Truth Stress Reduction

The science of breathing is called pranayama. Pranayama is an integral part of Kundalini yoga and meditation. In this lesson we will offer a few basics that will help you begin to be aware of your breath and to integrate conscious breathing into your daily life and yogic practice. To create a state of peace and relaxation we must breathe less than 10 breaths per minute. Breathing four or less breaths per minute induces a state of meditation. We must also inhale and exhale through the nose. mantra work together to calm us down, energize us, purify us and link us up to our true identity. After practicing the following meditation, you will notice that it will be easier to automatically link SAT to your inhale and NAM to your exhale. The simplest and most basic meditation in Kundalini yoga is chanting long SAT NAM's. Sit with a straight spine, either in easy cross-legged easy pose, in your preferred meditation posture or in a chair with the feet on the floor, sit bones carrying the weight...

This set of exercises can take from 20 to 40 minutes depending on how long you do each exercise. The deep relaxation after the set is an additional 5-10 minutes. The silent meditation is also between 3-11 or more minutes depending on the time you have. Tailor your practice times so that you do not feel rushed. The more relaxed and present you are to what you are doing and what is happening, the better the results and the more awareness you will cultivate.

Chapter Nine But Masons Love The Bible

In a subtle way, the ceremony of the Third Degree gives the new Mason permission to meditate (perhaps for the first time in his life) on sacred mythological truths existing outside the strict confines of the biblical narrative. For others (who meditate upon a possible Masonic-Templar connection) the ceremony also suggests, in a not-so-subtle way, that perhaps something was buried beneath the Holy of Holies of the Temple - not the fictional Temple of Solomon, but the very real ruins of the first century BCE Temple of Herod the Great. Modern Templar treasure hunters even suggest that the Masonic myth points to something buried beneath Scotland's Rosslyn Chapel30 whose foundational footprint is said to be scaled to that of Herod's Temple.

Thoughts And Desires Depend Upon Samskaras

The nature of desires and thoughts depends upon the nature of your Samskaras. If you have good Samskaras, you will have good desires and good thoughts and vice versa. Even if you have indulged in vicious actions up to the age of forty, begin practising virtuous actions such as charity, Japa, Dama, Svadhyaya, meditation, service of the poor and the sick, service of saints, etc., from this moment and these Samskaras will prompt you to do more virtuous deeds. They will stimulate good desires and noble thoughts. The Lord says in the Bhagavad-Gita

How do we Shift our Energy

Rhythmic breathing is incorporated into the exercises as well as done as a meditation in itself. Pranayama exercises also produce effects through attention and pace. The chanting of mantras tunes us into and aligns us with the universal sound current. The effects of mantra meditation include the clearing of the subconscious mind, the creation of divine thoughts and the ability to listen to the sounds of the Universe.

De Herba Sanctissima Arabica

Virtue of the Bewitchment thereof behold that which might be appointed for the Enlightenment of mine Eyes. Now then of this may I not speak, seeing that it involveth the Mystery of the Transcending of Time, so that in One Hour of our Terrestial Measure did I gather the Harvest of an Aeon, and in Ten Lives I could not declare it.

How To Acquire Good Samskaras

Try to acquire some good spiritual Samskaras in this birth at least, if you are not able to devote all your time in spiritual pursuit. Do some kind of meditation for a short time at least daily, say for half an hour in the morning and evening. Have a meditation room. Make some kind of Japa of any Mantra. Study the Gita regularly. Have Satsanga. Visit Rishikesh, Nasik, Varanasi, Haridwar, Prayag once a year for a week's stay. Have the Darshana of Mahatmas. By doing so, you will acquire some spiritual Samskaras which will be a valuable spiritual asset for a new, good life. You will have a very good birth. You will be placed in suitable environments in the next birth for unfolding the Divinity that is lurking in your heart, for practice of Yoga. All opportunities and facilities will be given to you by God, through His grace (Isvara-Kripa) for your spiritual Sadhana. Even by a little systematic spiritual practice (Yogabhyasa and Vedantic Sadhana), you can change your mentality, your old...

What and Why is Reformed Druidism in the 70s

During the winter, especially in the Northern parts of the country, frequent outdoor services are impractical. The Berkeley Grove solves this by having Celtic Nights every other week during the winter, and the Twin Cities Grove has experimented with weekly Taoist meditation services, which seemed to fit quite well with the Reformed druid idea.

Conclusion Of Second Bardo

However much experience one may have had, there is always the possibility of delusions occurring in these psychedelic states. Those with practice in meditation recognize the truth as soon as the experience begins. Reading this manual beforehand is important. Having some degree of self-knowledge is helpful at the moment of ego-death. Meditation on the various positive and negative archetypal forms is very important for Second Bardo phases. Therefore, read this manual, keep it, remember it, bear it in mind, read it regularly let the words and meanings be very clear they should not be forgotten, even under extreme duress. It is called The Great Liberation by Hearing because even those with selfish deeds on their conscience can be liberated if they hear it. If heard only once, it can be efficacious because even though not understood, it will be remembered during the psychedelic state, since the mind is more lucid then. It should be proclaimed to all living persons it should be read over...

The Big River Grove of the Reformed Druids of North America RDNA at SCSU

A Most of the time it's just talking together, sharing ideas and telling each other about good courses to take. Other times we may meet to quietly meditate or go for nature walks. Occasionally we get together for a service to mark the passing of the seasons and pause to reflect how similar cycles of ebb and flow also occur in our daily lives. Some members prefer to do Druidical activities on their own with only the occasional interaction of the group. Many members drift away after they find that they don't need the group anymore, others stay behind to help future members in their searches.

Thought Builds Character

Man is created by thought what a man thinks upon, that he becomes. Think you are strong strong you become. Think you are weak weak you become. Think you are a fool fool you become. Think you are God God you become. A man forms his own character, becoming that which he thinks. If you meditate on courage, you shall work courage into your character. So with purity, patience, unselfishness and self-control. If you think nobly, you shall gradually make for yourself a noble character, but if you think basely, a base character will be formed. Steady persevering thought sets up a definite habit of the mind and that habit manifests itself as a quality in the character. The thread of thought is woven into mental and moral qualities and these qualities in their totality form what we call character. You can build your character as surely as a mason can build a wall, working with and through the law.

AAA These loosen the swathings of the corpse these unbind the feet of Osiris so that the flaming God may rage through

Let it become blacker than all blackness. And in this meditation thou shalt be utterly without fear, for that the blankness that will appear unto thee is a thing dreadful beyond all thy comprehension. And it shall come to pass that if thou hast well and properly performed this meditation that on a Then being prepared and fortified, well fitted for the work, perform the whole meditation at one time. And let this be continued until perfect success be attained therein. For this is a mighty meditation and holy, having power even upon Death, yea, having power even upon Death. (Note by Fra. O.M. At any time during this meditation the concentration may bring about Samadhi. This is to be feared and shunned, more than any other breaking of control, for that it is the most tremendous of the forces which threaten to obsess. There is also some danger of acute delirious melancholia at point 1.)
