QUASSIA: Good for love. Mix with a snippey of hair from yourself and from your lover (with his/her permission, of course!) with quassia chips, burn, and keep the ashes in a small bottle to preserve the love.

QUINCE: Used for love, happiness, luck, and protection from evil. Carry quince seeds in a red flannel bag to protect against physical attacks and harm. Use quince seeds in charms and spells pretaining to love, protection, and happiness.

CHAPTER 18

RADDISH: Good for protection and lust.

RAGWORT: Courage, protection. Used in charms to ward off evil spirits. Associated with faeries. Also known as: Fairie's Horse, Faerie's Horse, Fairy Horse, and Faery Horse.

RASPBERRY LEAF: Used for healing, love, protection. Raspberry leaves are carried (Not Eaten), by pregnant women to reduce the pain involved in pregnancy and childbirth. Bathe in an infusion of raspberry to keep your current love relationship alive.

RED CLOVER BLOSSOM: Magickal uses include, fidelity, love, money, protection, and the blessing of domestic animals. Carry to aid in financial arrangements. Sprinkle around the home to remove negative spirits.

Also known as: Cleaver Grass, Mari Grass, Cow Grass, Trefoil, Purple Clover, and Wild Clover.

RED WILLOW BARK: The magickal used include meditation and clearing. A fabulous incense wood with a sweet and dry aroma.

RHUBARB: Good for fidelity and protection.

RICE: Money, rain, fertility, and protection. Use in money spells and fertility charms.

ROSE: The Rose is known as, "The" herb of love. Add Rose petal to your bath water to conjure up a lover. Put red rose petals in a red velvet bag and pin this under your clothes to attract love. You can also wear Rosehips as beads to bring love to you.

Rose oil and Rose incense are both used in many love spells. If you wash your hands with Rose water before mixing love potions, the potions will be much stronger.

Different colors of Roses have different meanings so you can use Roses to give someone a message magically.

Below are what the different Rose colors mean:

White - I love you not

Yellow - I love another

Moss - I admire you from afar

Pink - My love for you is innocent

Orange - I love you vigorously

Amethyst - I will love you forever

Wild - I love you because you are fair and innocent

ROSE BUD: The magickal uses of this herb includes divine love, close friendships, domestic peace and happiness, lasting relationships. It's great for use in incense, potpourri or bath magick.

Place around a sprains and dark bruises to help them heal faster.

ROSE GERANIUM: Averts negativity, especially in the form of gossip or false accusations.

ROSE HIPS: Used in healing spells and mixtures, bringing good luck, calls in good spirits.

ROSEMARY: This herb is carried and used in healing poppets for good health, used in love/lust spells. Worn to improve memory, used in dream pillows to prevent nightmares. Burned as an incense for purification and for removing negativity.

Wear or carry while reading or completing tasks to improve memory of the material and aid clear thinking (this is great for students).

Use an infusion of rosemary to wash hands before any healing magick. Use in bath magick for purification. Associated with faeries.

Also called: Elf Leaf, Sea Dew, Polar Plant, Guardrobe, Compass Weed, Dew of the Sea, Mary's Cloak, Stella Maria, Star of the Sea, and Incensier.

Rosemary if you wear it as a chaplet it aids in memory. A good protective sachet for boat or ship passengers. Make a fresh wreath of rosemary for protection, hang it in the home.

Burn rosemary and juniper for a recuperation incense. Use for rememberance in Samhain rituals.

ROWAN: Good for protection, magickal powers, success, anti-haunting. Use leaves and berries in amulets for healing and promoting psychic powers. Also good for use in luck spells and mixtures. Rowan wood is often used to make wands and divining rods.

Also known as: Mountain Ash, Delight of the Eye, Quickbane, Ran Tree, Rowanberry, Thor's Helper, Witch Bark, Wicken Tree, Wild Ask, and Witchwood.

RUE: The magickal uses include healing, health, mental powers, freedom and protection against the evil eye. Use as an asperger to cast salt water for purification of the circle or removing negativity from home or house.

Hang the dried herb indoors to help yourself see and understand your mistakes. Burn to banish negativity or bad habits.

Add to incense and poppets to prevent illness or speed up recovery. Add to baths to break hexes and curses that may have been placed against you.
