The Power of Positive Affirmations
When a doubt arises, Whether there is God or not, whether I will succeed in Self-realization or not, it must be dispelled by well-directed suggestions and affirmations such as It is true I will succeed. There is no doubt of this. In my dictionary, in my vocabulary, there are no such words, as 'can't', 'impossible', 'difficult', etc. Every thing is possible under the sun. Nothing is difficult when you strongly make up your mind. Strong determination and firm resolution will bring sanguine success in every affair or undertaking, and particularly so in the conquest of mind.

This particular exercise is an affirmation. An affirmation is like a New Year's resolution something you say to yourself to strengthen your ability to do something. It's not enough just to say the affirmation, you should think about it first, then say it slowly to yourself a few times. Each time you say an affirmation, you should try to put emotion behind your words and actually believe what you are saying. Affirmations work for many reasons. First, it's a way to clearly communicate with your subconscious, and we all know how powerful the subconscious is from hypnosis studies. Second, many people in metaphysics believe in a higher consciousness, sometimes called your Higher Self, or Oversoul, which is even more powerful than your subconscious. Affirmations also allow you to communicate your intentions to your Oversoul which can help you reach your goals. Third, many people in metaphysics believe that your beliefs directly affect your experience. Affirmations make it easier to change...
There is no great secret to changing behavior or habits. It is largely a matter of determination. It requires that you ignore the 'pull' of the model when you strive for changes within yourself. The model is, after all, a collection of 'habits', some of which must be unlearned for permananent change to occur. There are two ways to do this direct, through will power and awareness alone -- observing and acting out in an unattached or indifferent manner and indirect -- through conditioning such as affirmation (explained later), self-hypnosis, and magick. Meditation may help too, by relaxing tension and conflict.
B Retain a positive attitude to each step of the process. With all, but especially Pisces, it is all too easy to lock yourself, your Will, and energy into what you don't like about the present, rather than what you want the future to be. To use Pisces as an example, everyone is carrying some sort of baggage they know they would be better off without it is crucial to remember that, whatever you think about it now, you picked it up because it was needed to get you through some difficulty in the past.
Last night I had been conditioning myself for these problems. I kept saying the following affirmations to myself (1) When I am in my astral body, everything is governed by thought whether conscious or unconscious. (2) Nothing on Earth is solid to me, except in my mind. (3) I will feel no resistance, nor any restriction of my freedom. (4) I will be able to go wherever I wish without interruption. (5) I should be able to see through walls and ceilings.
Stage Two Replace the rogue thought pattern as soon as possible after it begins repeating, before it grows any stronger. Do not allow it to continue Replace it with a simple but slightly longer thought pattern and deliberately and strongly repeat this in your mind, over and over. Say this new one aloud a few times, or sing it, as this will help to strengthen it. Concentrate on repeating the replacement until you sense the pressure coming from the original thought pattern weakening. The replacement used can be absolutely anything, a snatch of song, a verse, a ditty, a jingle, a prayer, an affirmation, etc. Something that flows easily or rhymes will work better. Once the original problem begins to weaken, change the replacement thought pattern again. Use anything but the original thought pattern for this purpose. Repeat the new repetition until the first replacement weakens. If this solves the problem, fine, but if not, proceed to stage three.
Another result which spontaneously follows from Avidya is Asmita or the sense of being. This sense is the consciousness of one's individuality and personality, the ego, Ahamkara, or self-affirmation. Forgetfulness of universality ends in an assertion of individuality. The wrong notion that the individual is organically separated from the universe and the consequent self-assertion (Asmita), the bifurcating attitude of likes and dislikes in regard to things (Raga-Dvesha) and a longing to preserve one's body by all means (Abhinivesa) are the graduated effects of Avidya, which follow from it in a logical sequence. We do not know Universal Being. We know only the particular and the individual. We love and hate objects. We cling to life and fear death. The first mistake is to think, 'I am not the Universal' the second to affirm, 'I am the particular' the third to like certain things and to dislike others the fourth to strive for perpetuating individuality by the instinct for...
It has been said of the principle of air that it does not represent an element proper and this affirmation goes for the principle of earth likewise. Now this means that out of the interaction of the three foresaid elements the earthy principle has been born as the last element which by its specific quality, the solidification involves all the three elements. It is this quality in particular which has given a concrete shape to the three aforesaid elements. But at the same time the action of the three elements has been limited with the result of space, measure, weight and time having been born. The reciprocal action of the three elements together with that of the earth, thus, has become tetrapolar so that the earthy principle may be labelled now as a 4-pole magnet. The fluid in the polarity of the earthy element is electromagnetic. All the life created can therefore be explained by the fact that all elements are active in the fourth, i.e., the earth element. Through realization in this...
I call absurdities propositions contrary to my demonstrations as, for example, that three make one, that a 92 God has become man, that is to say, that the Infinite has made itself finite, that the Eternal died, that God punished his innocent Son for the sin of guilty men. FAITH. Say no more about it. As enunciated by you, these propositions are in fact absurdities. Do you know what is the number of God, you who do not know God Can you reason about the operations of the unknown Can you understand the mysteries of charity I must always be absurd for you for, if you understood them, my affirmations would be absorbed by your theorems I should be you, and you would be me or, to put it better, I should no longer exist, and Reason, in the presence of the infinite, would halt, blinded for evermore by your doubts, which are as infinite as space.
Not only can the body be controlled by the mind under direction of the will, but the mind itself can be trained and cultivated by the exercise of the controlling will. This, which the Western world knows as Mental Science, etc., has proved to the Western portions of that truth which the Yogi has known for ages. The mere calm demand of the Will accomplishes wonders in this direction, but if the mental exercise is accompanied by rhythmic breathing, the effect is greatly increased. Desirable qualities may be acquired by holding the proper mental image of what is desired during rhythmic breathing. Poise and Self Control, desirable qualities increased power, etc., may be acquired in this way. Undesirable qualities may be eliminated by cultivating the opposite qualities. Any or all the Mental Science exercises, treatments and affirmations may be used with the Yogi Rhythmic Breath.
Robert's First Epistle is essential discussing his idea of a Provisional Council of Arch-Druids among the original NRDNA, but also being open to the RDNA. Its purposes are plain and simple dissemination of news, record keeping and a safeguard for keeping communication open amongst the Council in case the Carleton ArchDruidcy should go into remission. In those circumstance, the Chair of the Council of Dalon ap Landu would annually rotate around the members of the Council of Arch-Druids, until Carleton got back on its feet. The letter spends a great deal of time re-affirming basic Reformed Druidic ideals of traditional disorganization and independence, which Larson understood as a member of the original Carleton Grove.
I was worried thai this would be just another positive thinking-pump-em-up give them nothing real course. I'm very pleased to say that it was instead very REAL and chock-full of effective and usable means to build confidence and achieve interpersonal goals. William Stanley, Sacramento, CA
'Personal magick' is that magick used to affect the self often involving affirmation, self-suggestion, and self-hypnosis. 'Active magick' is outer directed magick (as in PK) used to affect someone or thing, or to bring about an event. 'Passive magick' is to be affected (as in ESP) by an outside non-physical cause. Everyone possesses some magical (and psychic) potential. Some are especially gifted. Usually people are better at one kind of magick (ie. active or passive) than they are at the other kind only rarely does an individual excell at both. Traning and practice will, of course, improve ability somewhat.
(5) We also become aware of how our subconscious fears create our reality. This is why we need meditation and mantras. Mantras penetrate to the subconscious mind and clear the programs that we cannot consciously access. If we could, our naive affirmations would work. How many of us have repeated some form of I attract the perfect partner into my life , and then actually met our Romeo or Juliet Or repeated prosperity affirmations and won the lottery Life is not that simple. Life is a complex, rich and elegant game and hard work. Fortunately if we have the effective tools like Kundalini Yoga and meditation, life can also be fun, rewarding and empowering.
This disposes also of the idea of affirmation as a factor in life. This in itself is folly. It is work and action that we need in life, as you will readily see by this illustration. Suppose a little seed of those beautiful carnations were endowed with speech, and it came to you saying I am a carnation. Would you not answer No, you are not a carnation, you foolish little thing. You have the potentiality in you, but you will have to go out in the garden and bury yourself for awhile and grow. By that process alone you can become a carnation, never by affirmation. Similarly with ourselves. All the affirmations of divinity are vain unless accompanies by actions of a divine character, and they will prove our divinity as words never can.
The Oath is the foundation of all Work in Magick, as it is an affirmation of the Will. An Oath binds the Magician for ever. In Part II of Book 4 something has already been said on this subject but its importance deserves some further elaboration. Thus, should one, loving a woman, make a spell to compel her embraces, and tiring of her a little later, evoke Zazel to kill her he will find that the implications of his former Oath conflict with those proper to invoke the Unity of the Godhead of Saturn. Zazel will refuse to obey him in the case of the woman whom he has sworn that he loves. To this some may object that, since all acts are magical, every man who loves a woman implicitly takes an Oath of love, and therefore would never be able to murder her later, as we find to be the not uncommon case. The explanation is as follows. It is perfectly true that when Bill Sykes desires to possess Nancy, he does in fact evoke a spirit of the nature of Venus, constraining him by his Oath of Love...
Many Dale Carnegie type positive thinking self-improvement graduates believe if you just be yourself and be totally honest, you will get the results you want Are you getting the results you want. Where is the line between being honest and deceptive, secretive ana withholding information, exaggerating ,and embellishing, or lying Inside your mind, you know where those lines are. You can use this material within your parameters of integrity. I will never suggest you lie, deceive, or compromise your integrity. Revealing specific information in a specific sequence using specific language is called smart Being a babbling idiot is called unaware. Which category would you like to be a part
How does Asana help one in meditation The relation between the individual and the universal has to be brought to mind in this connection. There is an organic tie between the individual and its environment, and the purpose of Yoga is to rouse to consciousness this inherent harmony. This is to be brought about in successive stages. Whatever one is, and whatever one has, should be set in tune with the universal. This is Yoga, ultimately. When the personal individuality is attuned to universal being, it is the condition of Yoga. The individual begins with the body, but there are many things within the body, as there are in the physical cosmos. There are Prana, senses, mind, intellect, etc., encased in the body. All these things within have to be in gradual union with the universal. The mind cannot be so attuned when the body is in revolt. Yoga requires union of everything in the personality with the universal. Asana is the initial step in Yoga, whereby the bodily structure is set in...
Concerning the prime method ofthis Magick Art. Let the devotee consider well that although Christ and Osiris be one, yet the former is to be worshipped with Christian, and the latter with Egyptian rites. And this although the rites themselves are ceremonially equivalent. There should, however, be one symbol declaring the transcending of such limitations and with regard to the Deity also, there should be some one affirmation of his identity both with all other similar gods of other nations, and with the Supreme of whom all are but partial reflections.
The intellect is associated with another principle within, called Ahamkara or ego. 'Aham' means 'I', and 'kara' is that which manifests, reveals or affirms. There is something in us, which affirms 'I am'. This affirmation is ego. No logic is necessary to prove the ego, for we do not prove our own existence. This is an affirmation which requires no evidence, for all logic proceeds from it. The ego is inseparable from individual intellection, like fire from its heat. The intellect and ego exist inextricably, and human intellection is the function of the human ego. The functions of the ego are manifold, and these form the subject of psychology.
The mind is to be brought to its source. Unfortunately, we cannot know where the mind is unless it starts working, like the thief whose presence is known from his activities. The outer problems are manifestations of the inner fivefold complexity. Ignorance is the first cause. But it is a negative cause when one is merely ignorant or stupid. Man does not stop with this acceptance. He wants to demonstrate his ignorance, and here is the root of all trouble. Affirmation of egoism is the first demonstration. When one wants others to yield to the demands of one's ego which goes counter to the egos of others, there is clash of personalities and interests, and this circumstance breeds unhappiness in family, in society, and in the world. Yoga makes an analysis of this situation. Avidya affirming itself as Ahamkara and clashing with others produces the context of Himsa or injury. As Himsa is an evil which begets social grief of different types, Ahimsa or non-injury is a virtue. Ahimsa is akin...
Using willpower to determine the outcome of events is the source of such disciplines as visualization and the power of positive thinking. Its principle is that the human will, properly trained, can create certainty out of randomness. By willing one of the many possible results to happen, the magician makes it occur. Note that this power cannot force the impossible to happen, only the probable. Also, most magic doesn't make events happen with absolute certainty, but simply increases the likelihood of the desired event. Small, individual events are easier to control than those that will affect large groups of people. It is easier to cause one person to suffer ill fortune than to curse an entire village. Intelligent beings are harder to affect than animals or inanimate object, as their willpower is often at odds with the intentions of the sorcerer. Still, mind over probability is a very powerful force, and has the advantage that most rational, scientifically-minded people will ignore the...
Despite the affirmations of its detractors, Masonry is not a vehicle for social demolition, a corrupt organism whose nefarious activities propagate the disease which it attracts. Any mason, and not only the lesser ones (for a cord or collar do not an Initiate or Adept make but only his own interior work), can err. And the opposite would be astonishing. Many people may act with a view to more or less legitimate personal interests. It is not acceptable to cast aspersions upon the whole Order because of the existence of black sheep who sheltered in its Temples.
And yet there is no page of this Book on which this word is not written but so long as it is immediately followed by a new affirmation, all is not lost and as in this Book the word failure is thus made of little account, so also must the word success never be employed, for its is the last word that may be written therein, and it is followed by a full stop.
In the beginning, Druidism was formed as a protest against a religious requirement at Carleton College, not in affirmation of anything, except to affirm a mutual protest against coerced religion. The History of the Druids will be found elsewhere in the various books of this canon.1
The Self-affirmation I am comes before everything else, stands above and beyond all argument. No proof can make it stronger no disproof can weaken it. Both proof and When we observe this I am, we find that it expresses itself in three different ways (a) The internal reflection of a Non-Self, KNOWLEDGE, the root of thoughts (b) the internal concentration, WILL, the root of desires (c) the going forth to the external, ENERGY, the root of actions I know or I think, I will or I desire, I energise or I act. These are the three affirmations of the indivisible Self, of the I am. All manifestations may be classified under one or other of these three ways as all colours arise from the three primaries, so the numberless manifestations of the Self all arise from Will, Energy, Knowledge.
There are several approaches to influencing the subconscious mind. In previous exercises, we used affirmations and prayers to influence the subconscious mind (and influence other things as well.) Hypnosis is another excellent approach. Early studies in hypnosis showed a lot of promise in inducing OBEs. Unfortunately, there have been very few experiments in this area to the best of my knowledge, and the literature is scarce.
No one who maintains a positive attitude of mind can ever become obsessed, for so long as we assert our individuality that is strong enough to keep all outsiders away. But in spiritualistic seances where the sitters are negative there is always a great danger. The best way to avoid becoming obsessed would be to maintain this positive attitude, and anyone who is at all negatively inclined should avoid going to spiritualistic seances, crystal gazing, and other methods of evoking spirits. This is bad practice, anyway, for those who have gone beyond have their work to do there and should not be brought back here.
In the reaction against ignorant bigotry, people no longer dare to make up their minds about anything. The very practice, which the AAso strongly and persistently advocates, tends to make people feel that any positive attitude or gesture is certainly wrong, whatever may be right. They forget that the opposite may, within the limit of the universe of discourse, amount to nothing.
When Crowley entered VTI he encountered the Angel of the Aethyr who said, TAOTZEM is the name by which I am blasphemed. The name TAOTZEM adds gematrically to 163, the number for the King of Air, BATAIVAH, but more especially for RIT which means mercy. Blind mercy is a blasphemy for what actually lies beyond the human condition because here there is neither grace nor guilt. An alternate gematric number for this name is 145, the number for MA-OF-FAS, not to be measured and NOIB, affirmation. The Angel of VTI thus expresses those positive psychic forces that become degraded by labels or names and thus are better to remain nameless. The name TAO-T-ZEM can mean he who has your own likeness. This Angel is actually none other than your own self above your ego. He is a reflex of your Holy Guardian Angel who awaits in the 8th Aethyr, ZID.
Most OBE authors agree that your subconscious takes you out of your body every night. With practice you can use this to your advantage You can train your subconscious to wake you up after it has left the body. I have used many methods for impressing this idea on my subconscious affirmations, reading books, listening to subliminal OBE suggestion tapes, playful visualizations and listening to music that has OBE-suggestive words. The first method, affirmations or self-suggestion, is to tell yourself, I want to have an out-of-body experience, I want to leave my body or similar suggestions. The best times to do this are right before you fall asleep and especially right after you wake up in the morning. At these times you are in close contact with your subconscious. I wake up very slowly. For about a half hour I'm in contact with my subconscious mind. When I give myself suggestions then, they are very effective. Make these affirmations several times a day. The fourth method is to use...
It is a law that if we think health we must of necessity sooner or later express health. We must live the rational life and cease from excesses, particularly in diet that cannot be emphasized too often. Neither, will it avail to stand before a mirror and reiterate to oneself, I have Faith, I am Health, or similar untrue affirmations. Just stop talking of your ailments to others try above all to divert your own thoughts from your condition believe in health as our birthright, and as something that can be attained by us, never wavering.
It symbolizes Invoked, as contrasted with Natural Force for it is the Invocation of the Sword. Raised upward, it invokes the Divine crown of Spiritual Brightness, but reversed it is the Invocation of Demonic Force and becomes a fearfully evil symbol. It represents, therefore, very great power for good or evil, but invoked and it also represents whirling Force, and strength through trouble. It is the affirmation of Justice upholding Divine Authority and it may become the Sword of Wrath, Punishment, and Affliction.
Without God, being is a nothingness affirming itself, life a death in disguise, and light a night for ever deceived by the mirage of dreams. The word of universal reason is an affirmation and not a negation. The affirmation of atheism is the dogma of eternal night the affirmation of God is the dogma of light
The Seven Secrets of Solomon establish the author's credentials as a lover of freedom and a believer in the inherent dignity of humanity. These principles circ 3. celebration of our divine birthright and a wondrous affirmation of Nature and the grandeur of Creation. When Lon writes that, All creation is a play in the mind of God, I hear a ringing endorsement for that participatory, vibratory, divine rock concert we call Life.

To become lucid, you need to program your mind with a trigger to make you realize you are dreaming, so that you can take control. The best way is by forming the habit of frequent reality checks. (Reality checking also works with spontaneous OBE.) It takes time and perseverance to make reality checking a habitual action, and it will not work until it becomes habitual. But once it does, lucid dreams or spontaneous OBEs can be experienced just about every night, even many times each night. Because of this, reality checking is well worth the effort. Affirmations Affirmations are repeated sayings used to program the subconscious mind. These are most effective if said just before falling asleep. Before you go to sleep each night say, I will remember to do my reality check replacing the words do my reality check with whatever your primary reality check really is for example, I will remember to look at my hands Do this twenty times or more before falling sleep. Concentrate on the content and...
Upon hearing these affirmations, many medics of the official science will cry out But where are those internal bodies What do we do in order to identify and perceive them We only accept what is analyzed in the laboratory and what is submited to the studies of the systems which we have developed. In other words, the limit of their learning capacity is in relation with the apparatuses which they have perfected. One must not forget that the 'luminaries' (intellectuals) from the epoch of Pasteur were mocking him when he was affirming his famous theories, which have made him a celebrity. Did this not also occur even far worse with Copernicus and Galileo, when they became victims of what was believed to be opposed to the known or revealed truth Were not the 'wise' ones those who covered Columbus with slanders, because he was announcing the existence of a new world beyond the Cove of Finisterre, which then was believed to be the end of the earth
In short, with regard to certain physical facts, which have nothing in common with supernatural evocations, apparitions, or manifestations, and which are not in direct opposition to the laws of nature, which are not more wonderful than the results produced by electricity, we think that a denial or affirmation following a thorough and scientific investigation, is better than a denial or affirmation a priori.
This is the Holy Affirming, the Holy Denying, the Holy Reconciling the Holy God, the Holy Firm One, the Holy Immortal. In Gnostic esoteric science, the three independent forces have the following names Surp-Otheos, Surp-Skiros, Surp-Athanotos the Propelling, Affirming, Positive Force the Denying Force, the Denying force, the Force of Resistance the Reconciling Force, the Liberating Force, the Neutralizing Force.
